Rope Flow
On my quest to eliminate infrequent lower back pain, I got recently hooked on a new form of exercise called Rope Flow. It is similar to jump roping, except you don’t jump the rope. Instead you swing the rope over and beside you in various different ways. Here’s a video of an advanced routine that I pinned down as my goal post for what I would like to be able to do next year.
It’s not only a fun challenge to learn the moves but it creates a form of fluid exercise that is ideal to counter sitting at desks for too long. All you need is a rope and some exercise videos.
Though it may look a bit “woo woo” on first sight, it got already adopted by professional athletes, including MMA fighters, for their training. Though the technique originated with David Weck in the US, my goto guy for learning it is Tim Shieff from the UK. Specifically I’m doing the 8-week Rope Flow Course right now.
